U2 tour is underway

U2 kicked off their Experience + Innocence tour Wednesday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

11 of their 27 songs were from their last two albums, Songs of Experience and Songs of Innocence —and none were from The Joshua Tree. Other notable omissions: “New Year’s Day,” “Bad” and “Mysterious Ways.” But a few rarities made it in. They broke out “All Because of You” for the first time since 2006, “Staring at the Sun” for the first time since 2001 and, for the first time ever, “Acrobat” off of 1991’s Achtung Baby.

They used the same stage from their 2015 Innocence + Experience outing, which has a huge video screen and ramp dividing the arena — and engaged the audience with their Ar eXPERIENCE app for an augmented reality moment, which amounted to a ghostly image of Bono on your phone.

The next stop is St. Louis on Friday, followed by San Jose, California on Monday and Tuesday. U2 will be in North America through July 3rd in Connecticut.

U2 opening night set list:

  1. “Love Is All We Have Left”
